Architectural Tensile Shading in a Lakeside Environment
The Namar Valley Shading Project features approximately 2,000 m² of architectural tensile membrane structures, integrated into the recreational landscape surrounding Namar Lake in Riyadh.
Multiple tensile canopy geometries were designed to complement the site's unique lakeside setting, with careful coordination between structural support arrangements, membrane geometry, connection detailing, and tension distribution.
The use of Serge Ferrari SOLTIS FT 381 membranes, supported by engineered steel structures with an epoxy-coated finish, provides a lightweight and elegant shading solution that enhances the outdoor spaces while maintaining the natural and architectural character of Namar Valley.
